IWI Galil (Galatz) Sniper Rifle

With the success of the IMI Galil within the Israeli Army and those of other participating foreign nations, it was only natural to continue to evolve the family line. This resulted in developments beyond the basic assault rifle and included a shortened carbine form, a submachine gun-like micro-assault rifle form for special operations and the Designated Marksman Rifle variant of 1996. Back in 1983, the Galil was also branched to include a dedicated sniping platform based on the form and function of the Galil, The rifle design borrows heavily from the RK-62 and has a modified gas diversion system similar to the RK-62 to reduce the recoil of the rifle making it easier to fire especially in automatic mode.

Dragunov Sniper Rifle

The Dragunov SVD sniper rifle is an automatic rifle based on the Kalashnikov rifle series. The weapon system was the standard sniper rifle issued to the Red Army and most Warsaw Pact nations during the cold war.

The SVD utilizes the heavy and hard-hitting 7.62mm round, with sighting accomplished through a removable scope (designated as the PSO-1). Unlike the Kalashnikov rifles it copies, the SVD actually uses a lower-recoil system so as not to spoil the accuracy of a given shot. The rifle system as a whole is quite long (nearly 50 inches) and features a fixed stock. The Dragunov SVD is still a favorite of snipers in former satellite states such as Iraq, where it is being used in guerilla warfare. It has proven quite easy to fire (the low recoil system mentioned earlier makes it so) and is as accurate as the shooter is trained to be.

FN P90 Submachine gun made in belgium

The Fabrique Nationale FN P90 is a "personal defense weapon" designed and manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium. Created in response to NATO requests for a replacement for 9×19mm Parabellum firearms, the P90 was designed as a compact but powerful firearm for vehicle crews, operators of crew-served weapons, support personnel, special forces and counter-terrorist groups.

There are many weapons in Indian Armed Forces arsenal, from big to long range and small to short range for face to face fighting conditions.

So what is an Assault rifle mean? The rifle, which hand held and easy to carry and have selective fire modes is called an Assault rifle. The selective firing modes helps soldiers to decide how to use their ammo as per the conditions.

Now here we will be discussing the assault rifles used by Indian Armed Forces. Indian Armed Forces consist of three major parts: Army, Navy and Air Force. As most of the ground and face to face fight is done by the Indian army, most of the assault rifles are used by them as compared to the Air force and Navy.
